Yes, You Do Have Options
Pregnant or Think You Might Be? We Can Help.
Once you have received your pregnancy confirmation, we want to empower you to make the best decision for your life. Each pregnancy decision carries short-term and long-term implications.
You may feel overwhelmed. Others may be telling you what you should do. We can provide you with the information you need to make your decision based on you and your situation, and not what others expect of you or think you should do.
Every parenting journey begins with pregnancy, but how it ends is your choice. If you are pregnant you have three options:
Parenting
Is raising your baby right for you? Parenting is a huge but rewarding responsibility. To choose to parent is to fully invest yourself in the life of another for the sake of the other. Most find parenting to be an even bigger blessing than they imagined, but also find it challenging. We want to help you be prepared and confident to parent. At CT Women’s Center we offer parenting classes, confidential advocacy, and material goods— all free of charge. You may have questions and concerns about single parenting, continuing your education, financial stability and other topics. You are not alone. Make a call today or schedule an appointment online.
Adoption
How Do I Know If Adoption Is Right For Me?
The decision to place your baby for adoption is not easy. However, many women make this choice and are happy knowing they gave their baby a bright future.
You as the birth mother have the right to make all the decisions when it comes to adoption. Will it be opened or closed? Will it be private or will you use an agency? You are in the driver’s seat when making an adoption plan. You may be ready to consider adoption if you…
- Don’t want an abortion but aren’t ready to be a parent
- Want to provide your child with a 2-parent family
- Want to provide your child emotional and financial stability
- Want a life for your child that you know you cannot provide
Adoption is a selfless gift that takes a great deal of love and sacrifice to consider. We are not an adoption agency but we are here to help you. We can connect you with an adoption agency that will help walk you through the entire process.
Adoption Facts
Adoption is not ‘giving up’ your child. It is giving your child a future by placing your baby in a family that you have selected yourself.
You are not abandoning your baby. You will always be the loving first parent who actively participated in planning for your child’s future.
Through an “open adoption” process, you can meet and stay in touch with the adoptive parents that you have selected.
Open adoption can be beneficial for your child who will grow up knowing about his/her history rather than having unanswered questions about the family of origin.
Adopted children grow up knowing that their first parents loved them so much that they made a way for them to have the life that they truly wanted for them.
Adoption is legally transferring parental rights from one parent to another. This is a permanent arrangement.
Adoption is not foster care or “going into the system.”
Adoptive parents undergo a stringent process called a home study to ensure your child’s well-being in his/her permanent home.
You have time. You have time to decide what you believe is best for your baby. You are carrying someone special and completely unique. There will never be another person just like your baby.
Abortion
Since abortion is a medical procedure, you owe it to yourself to get accurate and factual information. We can discuss the various types of abortion procedures with you and the risks associated with each. It is important for anyone seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound before making a decision. An ultrasound will date the pregnancy which will determine what type of abortion procedure is available to you.
Considering Abortion?
Before getting any type of abortion, you will need to be certain that you are actually pregnant and how far you are into the pregnancy. Even if you have pregnancy symptoms or have taken a home test, you should come to our center for a confirmation of your home test result.
Did you know that 15-20% of all pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage because such pregnancies are not viable? A urine pregnancy test alone cannot determine that. Only an ultrasound can. If you qualify, you may be referred to a free ultrasound. A medical professional will answer any questions you might have and help you navigate your next steps. No pressure, no stress, no drama…just answers.
